Our talented team of consultants

When it comes to Coding and Chargemaster work, our long-term team makes all the difference.

We are proud to have a dedicated, domestic team of certified coders and chargemaster specialists who possess CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, RHIT, COC, CEMC, CPC-P, CCDS, RCC and other credentials.
Our coders have a minimum of 5 years of experience, most with 5-10 years of coding and coding validation experience.
Our auditors have a minimum of 10 years of coding audit experience.
While most coding companies offer 95% accuracy, we offer a 98% accuracy rate, validated by extensive internal QA.
Our chargemaster staff have a rare combination of coding and clinical expertise and have each completed hundreds of chargemaster reviews.

Management

Team Leaders:

Jay Janov, President

Jay has been providing coding and chargemaster services since he founded Prospective Payment Specialists(PPS) in 1992. PPS worked for over a thousand hospitals ranging from 4/7 largest for profit hospital systems to teaching hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals and physicians before merging with Bolder Healthcare Solutions in 2016. Jay was the Division President of Coding and Chargemaster resources at Bolder and then continued in that position when Bolder merged with Cognizant in 2018. After pursuing other interests in 2020, Jay wanted to address the continued need for a company concentrating on Coding and Chargemaster Services. He then launched Coding and Chargemaster Specialists(CCS), a new company that would emphasize an exclusive and high level of customer service for hospitals and physician’s offices.

CCS offers the deep expertise found in large companies with the flexibility of a boutique firm. Customers are carefully selected and limited so we can provide an extremely high level of service. Adapting to changing needs from clients is paramount along with a culture that fosters passionate employees, expeditious contracting, steady 24/7 contact and long term partnerships.

Marissa Smith, CEO

Marissa Smith brings over 20 years of Healthcare Revenue Cycle experience to her role as Chief Executive Officer. As CEO for Coding and Chargemaster Specialists, LLC, Marissa leads the daily operations ensuring our team delivers excellent customer service while maintaining desired quality and productivity.

Over the years, Marissa has partnered with clients on the creation and execution of strategies related to revenue cycle growth and expense management. She has worked with numerous healthcare clients on both hospital and physician components across the nation. Her client experience is expansive and diverse and includes working with large, nationally recognized healthcare systems, Academic facilities, Regional Medical Centers and Stand-alone and Critical Access Hospitals.

With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University, Marissa is well versed in both the business and clinical sides of healthcare.

Marissa’s past experience includes serving in Executive Leadership roles at other leading coding and chargemaster companies. She served as Vice-President of Operations at Prospective Payment Specialists for almost 10 years, then Vice-President of Operations for Bolder Healthcare Solutions Clinical Coding Division then later Division Leader for Cognizant’s Clinical Coding Division .
